On 14 December 2018, the Motor Trades Association of Australia (MTAA) welcomed the final report of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s (ACCC) 18 month Market Study into New Car Retailing and urged industry and Government to now get on with adopting the recommendations and actions.
To assist independent automobile repairers to understand the proposed changes outlined in the ACCC report, MTAA provided industry with a fact sheet which included an overview of the report, highlights key points of the report for industry and outlines what MTAA’s next steps are for advocating for a mandatory scheme to be introduced for car manufacturers to share technical repair information with independent repairers on commercially fair and reasonable terms.
